About Neon Tic-Tac-Toe
Tic tac toe, also called noughts and crosses or Xs and Os, is one of the oldest and best-known paper games. Its simple rules make it a great first strategy game for kids and a fun one-minute break for everyone else.
Neon Tic-Tac-Toe adds bright neon marks and keyboard support, so a quick match with the friend next to you looks and feels great. Play best of five to settle who is champion.
How to play Neon Tic-Tac-Toe
- Tap or click an empty square to place your mark.
- On a keyboard, move the highlight with the arrow keys and press Enter or Space to place your mark.
- Players take turns, one placing X and the other O. Keys 1–9 also work, laid out like a number pad.
Rules
- The board is a 3×3 grid.
- Get three of your marks in a row — across, down or diagonally — to win.
- If all nine squares are filled with no line of three, the game is a draw.
Tips to win
- Start in the centre or a corner — they are part of the most lines.
- Always block when your opponent has two in a row.
- Make a fork: a move that creates two threats at once wins the game.
- Between two good players, perfect play always ends in a draw — so the first mistake decides it.
