Neon Orbit — free 3D space shooter game
Neon Orbit is a free 3D space shooter that you play right in your browser, with no download. You fly a neon starfighter over a glowing arena in deep space while wave after wave of enemy drones closes in. There are three kinds of enemies, each with its own way of attacking, and every fifth wave a huge boss arrives with a health bar of its own. Shoot them down, pick up power-ups that drop from destroyed enemies and keep your hull in one piece for as long as you can. Every kill adds to your score, and a fast chain of kills builds a multiplier. On a computer you move with the keyboard and aim with the mouse; on a phone the left thumb flies and the right thumb aims and fires. Your best score is kept on this device, so every run is a new chance to beat it.
How to play
- Computer: move with W A S D or the arrow keys, aim with the mouse and hold the mouse button or Space to fire.
- Phone: move with your left thumb and aim and fire with your right thumb. If you do not aim, your ship aims at the nearest enemy.
- P or Esc pauses the game. Music and sound effects can be switched on and off.
- Fly through power-ups to collect them.
About Neon Orbit
Neon Orbit is an arena shooter in the classic twin-stick style: you can move in one direction and shoot in another. The arena is a round, glowing platform floating in space, with a ringed planet and a bright nebula in the sky, and the enemies come at you from every side.
The waves get harder as you go: more enemies, faster attacks and mixed groups of all three enemy types. Every fifth wave ends with a boss fight. Power-ups help you through the toughest moments, and the game keeps track of your best score, the wave you reached and your kills.
Rules
- Destroy every enemy in a wave to start the next one. A boss arrives every 5 waves.
- Enemies and their shots damage your hull. When the hull is empty, the core is lost and the run ends.
- Kills in quick succession raise your score multiplier.
- Your best score is saved on your device. Neon Orbit does not give Points.
Tips to win
- Keep moving in wide circles: standing still lets the enemies surround you.
- Clear the fastest enemies first, then deal with the slower ones.
- Save your hull for the boss waves and pick up power-ups just before them.
