1. The car accelerates on its own. Steer with ← → or A and D, or with the ◀ ▶ buttons on a phone.
2. Drift: hold Space or Shift (DRIFT on a phone) while you turn into a corner, then let go on the exit for a boost.
3. Nitro: press ↑ or W (BOOST on a phone) when one of the three nitro bars under your speed is full.
4. Brake: press ↓ or S before the tightest hairpins, and drive over the glowing chevron pads for a free boost.

Neon Racing is an arcade racer built to play instantly in your browser. You start last on the grid behind three computer drivers, Viper, Volt and Blaze, and have three laps to fight your way to the front. The track has a long start straight, a fast sweeper, a chicane and two tight hairpins, all lined with neon barriers and city towers.

Drifting is the heart of the game. Hold the drift button as you turn into a corner and the car slides sideways while a charge meter fills from cyan to magenta to gold. Let go and you get a mini-boost: the longer the drift, the stronger the boost. Drifts and boost pads also fill your nitro tank, which you can fire whenever you want.

The game runs in real 3D with a quality setting that adapts to your device, so it stays smooth on phones and looks its best on a desktop with bloom and shadows. A minimap, the live race order, your lap time and your best lap are always on screen.

• A race is 3 laps against 3 computer cars. You start in 4th place.
• Your score is a bonus for your finishing place, plus a time bonus for a fast race, plus your drift points.
• Your best lap is saved on your device and shown at the top right.
• Hitting the barriers costs speed; leaving the road slows you down a lot.

• Start the drift a little before the corner and keep steering into it: the charge fills faster.
• Let go of the drift as the road straightens out, then fire nitro for a double push down the straight.
• Use the inside of the hairpins and pass the rivals there; they take the wider line.

Can I play Neon Racing on my phone?

Yes. On a phone you get big steer, drift and boost buttons, and the game picks a graphics quality that keeps it smooth.

How do drift and nitro work?

Hold drift in a corner and watch the meter under your speed: cyan, magenta and gold are the three boost levels. Every drift and boost pad also fills the nitro tank; press boost to fire one bar.

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes. Save your race from the results screen to enter the weekly Neon Racing leaderboard.

Do I earn Points in Neon Racing?

Not yet. Neon Racing is for the leaderboard and your best lap for now. Points come from our other games, and never from ads.
